How Three Dogs Farm and Timber got started

I guess I should start with the reason for the Blog. I have not worked in awhile, I will guess about five years now or close to it. I had several things happen with my health one right after another, I just started feeling sick to my stomach one day and I kept on feeling sick for a couple of weeks. I got worried about it, I started throwing up and I didn't even do much of that when I was pregnant. I went to the doctor, I had tests...had my Gallbladder taken out. I was still having problems, went to the doctor and had more tests...I had polyps removed from my stomach and colon. I still didn't feel right I started having more tests, because now I was bleeding...went and had my yearly Well Woman exams...more tests...sonograms, CT scan...told I had hemorrhagic cysts on my ovaries, but they couldn't find one of my ovaries. I told them I wanted them out. My Gynecologist decided to go on vacation, she scheduled the surgery for when she got back...had the surgery July 2004...found out that both ovaries had cancer in them and I had a micro invasion. This was a very stressful time for me. I was sent to an Oncologist, he talked about staging surgery, which is pretty much filleting you like a fish and taking out a lot of lymph nodes. But they were going to get another opinion from MD Anderson. They sent everything to MD Anderson for review...more waiting and more tests. Had it spread? They scraped my insides during my surgery, trying to make sure they got it all...they damaged some nerves during that process. They let me decide about the staging surgery, I said no...they said they thought they caught it early enough, I would take a chance with my life. I started getting bladder infections regularly, had pain...shooting pains...went to a Urologist for more tests, lots of tests...everything functioning well, must be nerve damage from the surgery. Then I started having pain in my leg, felt like an Indian Sunburn...more doctor visits, trips to the chiropractor, injections in my spine and hip. I had pain in my foot when I walked, but I walked anyway...they said strengthen your core do what exercise you can...I walked. My physical therapist referred me to a podiatrist...ended up having surgery on both feet, that was worse than anything I ever went through. Not being able to walk for 6 to 8 weeks the first surgery and longer the second.

I had a good man by my side during this time, it took a long time for me to heal up from everything and he and my son took good care of me. I had four surgeries in about 14 months, well I guess in the medical word they would consider it more...they count colonoscopies and endoscopes as surgeries because they knock you out, and then the first spinal injections I had, they knocked me out for those too...and getting the polyps removed. I went through probably three years of testing and doctors vists and then finally got the kind of all clear at my 5 year mark for the ovarian cancer. I got a Teeter Hang up for my back problem...bulging disks pressing on nerves, traction helps a lot. Anyway, I am doing better these days...still take 5 prescriptions but that is down from 9!

We decided to move to the country after my husband was out of work for a long stretch, he went to Afghanistan and worked for a year and we got bills paid off during that time, but when he got back the job market was not any better and after an interview in Arkansas and the drive up there and back through East Texas...we decided to make some changes. I guess you could call cashing in our stocks and IRA's and such crazy...but we decided to buy a house in the country before we put our house on the market and when you don't have a job, you sometimes have to do crazy things, to make big changes. My husband Crew and I wanted away from the city, we wanted some land and we didn't want to live in a Homeowners association any more. That is basically how this all started. We found our house in the Piney Woods of East Texas, we fixed it up good enough to live in it, put our house in Dallas up for sale and sold it to the second person who saw it on the first day it was on the market. Our country adventure started in February 2013 when we signed the house papers. Now you have some background information I will pretty much just write about our adventures from the time we signed the papers on. I was born and raised in the city...so, I am new at all this, living in the country and doing my best to whip this place into shape. It is our new home. Our kids are all grown too...so now my kids either have fur or feathers.
