People keep telling me I should start a blog, I finally am starting one! I am new at this so be patient with me. I am a "City Girl" living in the "Country World". Now to give you an idea of who I am...

Some people would call Fort Worth, Texas the country...you would be wrong...at least not in this day and time. I was born in Fort Worth, Texas in 1959, in simpler times. By that I mean that you could actually play outside without worrying about being abducted or shot, you could walk to the corner store and play in the park without supervision. We did play outside...usually until much after dark. Sometimes I would lay in the driveway and look up at the stars for hours, played tennis across the street, hide and seek, sometimes the neighborhood kids would congregate at my best friends house across the street from mine and eat popcorn and just talk for hours. Back then, there was no Internet, no cell phones,, no computers, no video games...we didn't even have a color TV when I was young! I was tall and skinny, wore cat eye glasses because I was cross-eyed (one nickname I had was Lurch, another was Clarence) until I had surgery the Summer before High School. We played at the park with the other kids, baseball or softball...the guys always tried to hit the ball and break the picture window of a house way on the corner...I think one finally did it, it was long ago. I rode my bicycle everywhere, got a job when I was 15. Once I was in High School, all it seemed like I did was go to school and work.

I am just giving you a little background, I was one of five kids...the second born child. I was a bit of a Tomboy. I worked hard, bought my own clothes, my own car at 18 years old (my Grandpa found it for me and made sure it was safe and co-signed for me). I worked a full time job, went to school full time and was on the swim team. I was not home much, even when I had a day off. I did date when I had time. I made fairly good grades, A's and B's with a couple of C's when I had to do Term Themes...mostly because I was so busy working and going to swim meets I did enough to get the C's, I made one D in art...that upset me but I prefer not to open that wound.

My home life was not perfect and I tried to stay away from home as much as I could growing up. When I was at home I read books, I loved the Little House on the Prairie series of books, I read them several times. I know you may think I am crazy, but I always thought I would like to live in the 1800's, I read Western literature too. I think I would even have been happy living in the medieval times...always wanting my Knight in Shining Armor to rescue me.

My roots run deep in Fort Worth, well Texas in general. I believe it was a Great Uncle who traced our family roots back 7 generations in the book he wrote called "Thank God We Made It". We have a lot of family history that was documented in that book, but that book stops at my generation. I am a Clark, my relatives did great things, founded Colleges, like what is now TCU, were active in Churches and Preached, my Grandfather was a Mason and a Teacher of History at Poly Technic High School, my Dad helped to design the F1-11...there is much more, but this Blog is about me and my journey. There will be more, my life has changed so much in the past year and I don't want to write about the past too much, a lot of my past needs to stay there.
